Olde Dublin Pub

May 9, 2012, Wednesday

Being an Irishmen I thought that it was fitting to make my first post about a Irish pub, so I went to the Olde Dublin Pub on Sydney Street for something to eat.  I stepped into the dining room and could immediately feel the Celtic heritage that the owner must have.  Compared to other places that take it too far by putting a "Celtic Cross" every three feet, it felt like an homage to Ireland.  The servers are attentive and personable, ready at all times to get you whatever you may need.

I got an appetizer to start my meal with and I have to say I was really impressed, I had ordered the Spinach Dip and have to say they have the right number of the right chips and the dip itself is in my opinion an award winning recipe.

I tried a few things there my premier item was the Curry Chicken on Rice, when the meal was handed to me to be honest I was a little disappointed. The bread was made to look nice but the curry was just dropped onto the rice.  I stirred it up and started to eat and inside the the meal there was green onions, tomatoes, and carrot.  I am not sure if the veggies had been tossed into the rice or if it was between the rice and sauce.  I feel that those veggies were a missed opportunity, if they had been given a quick sauté then spread across the sauce after it goes on the rice.

If you are taking a kid with you or just feeling like a simple meal, Chicken Fingers and fries are exactly what you would expect them to be and on that note so it the order of Onion Rings.

For desert I finished my experience with a plate of the Bailey's Cheesecake which has stayed the same for 25 years for a very good reason. It is fantastic.

  1. I really like Dublin and I wanted to say that they had a great burger for the competition and I really enjoyed the clover on it.
